Marrakech (The Red city) = Zagora
You depart your 2 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Zagora early in the morning (around 7:30 AM) from your hotel or riad. First, you’ll drive through the Tizi N’tichka pass (2,260 m altitude) and cross various Berber villages along the way. You’ll make several stops to enjoy the scenic views, take photos, sip a cup of mint tea, and stretch your legs.
Upon arrival at the Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou, you’ll enjoy a short visit to this UNESCO World Heritage site, which has previously served as a set for various Hollywood epics like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. You’ll have an hour-long visit to the village with a local guide.
After a leisurely lunch at either Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou or Ouarzazate, you’ll drive past the Anti Atlas Mountains, the Berber Village of Agdez, and the Draa Valley, which is home to hundreds of thousands of date palm trees. The Draa Valley is considered the most significant date palm plantation in Morocco.
You’ll arrive in Zagora in the late afternoon, where you’ll prepare for a camel trek over the Zagora desert. You’ll witness a spectacular sunset before riding your camel back to your Zagora desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a Moroccan dinner accompanied by drums and entertainment under the stars.
Zagora = Ouarzazate = Marrakech
After an early wake-up for a camel ride and to watch the sunrise over the horizon, you’ll enjoy a traditional Moroccan breakfast. Then, you’ll depart for Ouarzazate, where you can visit the Taourirte Kasbah before having a leisurely lunch. Afterwards, you’ll continue the journey back to Marrakech via the Tizi Ntichka pass.
