Your 3 Days Sahara Tour from Errachidia to Merzouga will begin with a pick up by your driver from the Sahara Camel Trips company. As most flights arriving at Moulay Ali Cherif Airport in Errachidia tend to land in the evening, you will be driven directly to your hotel in Merzouga for an overnight stay.
Merzouga area = Erg Chebbi
We’ll start our Merzouga 4×4 excursion by exploring the different and interesting sites around the Erg Chebbi dunes. First, we’ll visit the Hassi Labied oasis to see its intricate irrigation canals and agricultural lands. We’ll then head south to the seasonal Sriji lake, if there is water present.
Next, we’ll continue on to Khamlia village, where you’ll have the opportunity to listen to the captivating Gnawa music of the dark-skinned people, who were brought to Morocco as immigrants over a century ago and worked as slaves. Afterward, we’ll make our way to the M’ifis mines, as the Merzouga desert is also renowned for its minerals and fossils.
Amid our Merzouga 4×4 leavevisit, we’ll have the chance to visit a roaming Berber family still living in their tent in the center of the Sahara. We’ll appreciate a reviving glass of mint tea with them and learn around their life in the desert.
We’ll make stops at various panoramic viewpoints to take in the stunning scenery and capture photographs. After lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll return to the village, where you’ll begin your camel trek to reach our Berber camp in Merzouga. The camel ride will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, with a break at the top of the dunes to watch the sunset and try your hand at sandboarding, if desired.
Upon reaching the camp, you’ll be welcomed with a soothing glass of tea and have time to relax before dinner. After the meal, you’ll be treated to traditional Berber drumming music and the opportunity to marvel at the enchanting starry sky before retiring to your nomadic tent for the night.
Erg Chebbi desert = Rissani = Erfoud = Ziz Valley = Errachidia
The following day, we recommend waking up early to enjoy the sunrise atop the dune, close to the camp. Afterward, you can have your breakfast and take a shower at the camp. Following these beautiful moments, you’ll ride your camel back to the original starting location or transfer back by 4WD if you prefer.
Later, you’ll meet your driver, and your 3 Days Sahara Tour from Errachidia to Merzouga tour will continue towards Rissani. If it’s one of the market days (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday), we’ll visit the local weekly market. Afterward, we’ll drive further to Erfoud, a town renowned for its annual date and fossil festival, with the option to visit one of the mineral factories if you’re interested.
Then, we’ll continue to Errachidia through the village of Aoufous, reaching the beautiful Ziz Valley, where we’ll stop at a panoramic viewpoint to admire the stunning landscapes and take photographs. Finally, we’ll travel to Errachidia, where we’ll drop you off at the airport or your hotel.
